Friends and family beamed with pride as members of the Class of 2018 received their high school diplomas at Pierson High School’s annual commencement ceremony held on June 23.

The ceremony included remarks from several speakers, including businessman Rohan Oza of ABC’s “Shark Tank.” He spoke to the class about success and offered advice for the future. He said, “To win in life, be true to yourself – defy the experts.” He also encouraged the students to trust their instincts and create the culture of change that they want to see.

Valedictorian Leigh Hatfield and salutatorian Hope Brindle also spoke to their classmates, as they shared memories from their time in the district and wished them all the best as they move forward in their lives.

In addition to receiving their diplomas, students were also awarded local scholarships, totaling more than $200,000.
